- Stylish uniforms, old Harley Davidson patrol motorcycles,
a 1946 police car, a crime scene with clues, and a 911 call center are
just a few of the interesting displays and artifacts about those who “Protect
and Serve” in Delaware.
The Delaware Agricultural Museum and Village - Delaware's rural heritage comes to life. The main exhibit building houses over 10,000 artifacts from the 17th through 20th centuries. Special exhibits of artifacts and artwork change frequently. On the grounds behind the main building is a re-created 19th-century rural community, including a schoolhouse, farmhouse, mill, and church, to name a few. Delaware Archaeological Museum and the Museum of Small Town Life - Located in a 1790s Presbyterian Church and an 1880s Sunday School, these two museums exhibit 12,000 years of Delaware's culture with a special emphasis on Native Americans and small town Delaware Life.
The Delaware State Visitor Center - Explore the exhibition gallery and find a motel through this center. Get plenty of sleep for the second day of your journey. Try the best in Dover, the Dover Downs Hotel or the Sheraton Hotel!
The Sewell C. Biggs Museum of American Art - Fine furnishings of the past, along with elaborate silver and other decorative arts are the hallmark of the Biggs Museum. The museum also houses an extensive collection of paintings by American artists with an emphasis on Delaware and the Delaware River Valley. The Air Mobility Command Museum - Located in a WWII hanger the museum offers visitors a close up look at Air Force history in Dover, including everything from the C-47 Gooney Bird aircraft to aviator glasses. The Museum houses a growing collection of vintage aircraft and artifacts that reflect the history and evolution of Air Mobility Command in the Air Force and of Dover AFB from its modest beginning to its current role as the Eastern U.S. hub of strategic airlift. |
