The government, the police, the military.  All three of these aspects of our society are here to protect and serve the public. See how they have evolved as the needs of society have changed.


Delaware State Police Museum and Educational Center - Stylish uniforms, old Harley Davidson patrol motorcycles, a 1946 police car, a crime scene with clues, and a 911 call center are just a few of the interesting displays and artifacts about those who “Protect and Serve” in Delaware. 

The Green - In downtown Dover on State Street stands the Green.  This square is the seat of Government in Delaware, housing the Kent County Courthouse, the Supreme Court building, the Legislative Hall and other early colonial buildings of note.

Old State House - built in 1792 and restored to its original appearance in 1976. This building includes a rare geometric staircase and a view of the historic Dover Green. Remaining as Dover’s symbolic capitol building, the State House has witnessed the panorama of Delaware’s political and social development since the era of the early republic.

The Delaware Public Archives - The archives is the repository of government records on many aspects of Delaware life from census data, to Civil War records, to early photographs.  Take some time to visit the archives and look up an ancestor or two.  Surf the net on one of the numerous internet-ready computers available for public use or get help from of the friendly staff.

The Air Mobility Command Museum - Located in a WWII hanger the museum offers visitors a close up look at Air Force history in Dover, including everything from the C-47 Gooney Bird aircraft to aviator glasses. The Museum houses a growing collection of vintage aircraft and artifacts that reflect the history and evolution of Air Mobility Command in the Air Force and of Dover AFB from its modest beginning to its current role as the Eastern U.S. hub of strategic airlift.
